Big Rig Wrecks Around Curve
The second big rig in about a month flipped on the U.S. 36 curve just west of Hiawatha. Monday night, Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Jerry Clary, pictured above, along with several other local emergency personnel responded to this semi overturn at 7:32 p.m., according to the KHP. The driver was Douglas Consier, 53, of Iowa, who was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene, according to Clary. The rig was carrying Roundup, a liquid chemical herbicide. Jennifer Ploeger, county emergency management director, said there was not a diesel spill and there is no clean-up for the Roundup, because it is not considered a hazardous material.
